are needed for several types of work. Persons must meet the following criteria: Must be at least 16 years old if working in Direct Care or Natural Supports. Groups (4-H, schools, churches, etc.) with youth younger than age 16 must have adult supervision and can only work in Special Events. Must have transportation to and from volunteer workplace. Must fill out an application at main campus or at Resale Stores, except for one-time event participants. Must have written consent from parent/guardian or group sponsor. Must pass law enforcement screenings. Groups helping with one-time events do not have to do law enforcement screenings. If in location where high school students have classes or if volunteering more than 40 hours per month, must pass Level II background screenings (fingerprinting). Must be physically able to meet the position essential requirements for this volunteer job description. Should attend a 30-minute Sensitivity Training to understand how to work with people with disabilities. Court ordered applicants are taken on a case by case basis.

NU-HOPE Elder Care Services, Inc.

12/14/2015 Clay Shoot Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist at the Tommy Todd Memorial/NU-HOPE Clay Shoot being held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Square One Sporting Clays Club in Lake Placid. Volunteers are needed to serve as trappers (push a button to release the clays)and to record the scores on the shooter's score cards. The duties are not complicated, and pre-training can be provided to anyone who is interested. It is a great morning of fun, and all volunteers are invited to join us for our steak and swamp cabbage grilled lunch (our thanks for your hard work!) To better understand ways to prevent cancer, the American Cancer Society is recruiting men and women across the US and Puerto Rico for a landmark new research study – Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). Enrollment is being made possible in partnership with Highlands Regional Medical Center, November 14, 2013 from, 4-8 PM. Individuals may choose to participate if they are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study (which involves completing follow-up surveys periodically over the next 20-30 years), are between the ages of 30 and 65 years old and have never been diagnosed with cancer. Many options are available to mentors, such as our School-Based Program where the volunteer/mentor meets with the student in school for one hour per week, or the traditional Community-Based Program where the volunteer/mentor meets with the child outside of school.
