The Wickenburg Children's cultural Organization (WCO) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to enrich the cultural education of children living in rural Arizona by providing experiential music programs to the elementary schools and their communities in and around Wickenburg, and to provide other programs that further individual education of music. The WCO believes that education is not complete without inclusion of the arts, and that music, particularly classical music, is a catalyst for improving student performance in all areas of their education. Numerous studies are now demonstrating that students who study the arts are more successful on standardized tests and generally achieve higher grades in their classroom studies. Music in particular has been linked to the development of language, reasoning, spatial intelligence, and improvements in solving mathematical problems. Our Mission now includes keeping the rich history of early education in Wickenburg, particularly at the Garcia Little Red Schoolhouse, available to the community and visitors.
