211 Helpline

211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast is a private, nonprofit health and human service organization. 211 is a unique multi-program agency that provides information to the public concerning health and human service resources; telephone counseling to individuals with personal and/or family problems; suicide intervention for those who are in sever distress; and information, referral, case management and advocacy services to special need populations such as teenagers and the elderly. Residents from a five-county radius (Palm Beach County, Martin County, St. Lucie County, Indian River County, and Okeechobee County) can simply dial 2-1-1 and be instantly connected to a Resource Specialist 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

American Red Cross - Martin County Chapter

Since 1926, the Martin County Chapter has been serving the residents of Martin County with various programs. The Red Cross provides the following services in Martin County: •Disaster Services; The Red Cross assists any member of the Martin County community who experiences a verified disaster (e.g., home fire). Staff and volunteers work with community partners, first responders and other agencies to meet the needs of the individuals affected by disaster. Most of our clients are families at risk of homelessness, hardship, and/or a transition to poverty without assistance following a disaster. •International Services; The American Red Cross, as a member of the global Red Cross Red Crescent network, provides assistance to families separated internationally by armed conflict, disaster or humanitarian emergencies. Refugees and immigrants therefore comprise the local target population for International Services. •Preparedness Programs; Preparedness outreach programming is available for all persons, schools, organizations, and businesses. There are no eligibility restrictions, and educational presentations are age-appropriate. We do target programs for specific age groups where we have identified greater risk or vulnerability. •Service to the Armed Forces; Any person connected with the armed forces, including Active Duty personnel, National Guard, Reservists, ROTC, U.S. Coast Guard, recruiters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Military Retirees, Veterans, and families of all those listed who are in need of services are all eligible for assistance.

Catholic Charities - Martin County

Catholic Charities of Martin County offers Counseling and Immigration Legal Services to the local community on a sliding scale. The programs are always in need of volunteers for clerical work, in-kind donations of office products as well as financial donations. Thank you for your support!

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Martin County

CHARACTER COUNTS!, a program of United Way of Martin County,has been building character, sportsmanship and workplace ethics in Martin County since 1996. We provide activities, materials and programs that guide students toward making responsible choices; offer opportunities for adults, parents and families to improve their parenting skills, strengthen their families, and develop ethical business leadership qualities and best practices via business partnerships, special events and seminars; implement community-wide campaigns to prevent underage drinking, youth substance abuse and bullying, decrease academic cheating and build assets in our youth; and recognize outstanding student, adult and business role models.

Children's Home Society

Created in 1902, Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) is the oldest and largest statewide private not-for-profit provider of services to children and families in Florida. The Central Florida Division, established in 1963, serves nearly 8,000 children and families in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties each year through a full spectrum of prevention and intervention programs. Services include foster care, adoption, child development, emergency shelters, residential group homes, independent and transitional living for teens, parent education, counseling, mentoring, treatment for developmentally disabled children, and more. CHS, which served more than 90,000 children and families throughout the state in 2009, is headquartered in Winter Park, Fla., and offers services in more than 100 locations by more than 1,500 staff members dedicated to providing child-focused, family-centered care.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services of the Treasure Coast

DHHS is the only organization on the Treasure Coast providing direct support services to the deaf and hard of hearing members of our community. There are 14 other Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Providers across the state serving this targeted population. Each is an independent, privately owned, not-for-profit organization. We are all members of the Deaf Service Center Association of Florida. This membership requires that we provide certain core services, meet certain minimum operational requirements. This insures that DHHS is providing a satisfactory level of service to our target population.

Father & Child Resource Center

The Father & Child Resource Center provides education, support and legal assistance to help fathers play a meaningful role in the lives of their children. The Center acts as a resource and collaborative partner to other agencies that are working in our community to strengthen families.

Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc.

The Friends of the Martin County Library System is a 501(c)3 corporation made up of individuals who support the Library System and all that it has to offer. In fiscal 2012-13, the Friends provided $252,546 in funding for: Adult Programming,Children & Youth Services, Book Collections, Library Enhancements and Staff Development. The source of this funding comes from memberships in the Friends organization, donations, book sales at all six community libraries and the Book Depot, and special events. Habitat for Humanity of Martin County

Since its inception in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Martin County has built 112 homes in Hobe Sound, Indiantown, Jensen Beach, Port Salerno and Stuart, Fla. Habitat for Humanity houses are simple, decent and affordable to low-income families who qualify for a zero interest loan that they must pay back. Whenever possible, we build sustainable, energy-efficient and healthy housing. The philosophy is to provide entry level, affordable housing at a fair price and good value. This achievement is possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Habitat staff and volunteers, the sweat-equity of the home owners, and an outpouring of support from donors and community partners.

Helping People Succeed

Helping People Succeed brings the elements of a successful life by helping parents understand how to give their child the love and care needed; Helping adults with disabilities become taxpaying citizens through employment; Helping children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder; We help people belong to our community.

House of Hope

House of Hope has been providing basic human needs for struggling residents in Martin County since 1984. A nonprofit community service agency, House of Hope provides its core service programs at each of its four locations -- Stuart, Hobe Sound, Indiantown and Jensen Beach. House of Hope is a nonprofit agency that provides food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance and life-changing case management services. Our clients are adults and children in need -- typically low-wage workers, single parents, senior citizens, the recently unemployed, veterans and families suffering through life crises.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Martin County Community Foundation

The Martin County Community Foundation was established in 1988. We work with philanthropically inclined individuals and organizations to improve communities. In doing our work we serve as a convener of community leaders, identify social issues in need of philanthropic support and work to bring about effective and positive change.

Mary's Shelter of the Treasure Coast

Mary's Shelter offer homeless, pregnant women both residential and non-residential services. We take in women over the age of 18 and offer a shelter as well as a life-skills program consisting of education, career counseling and much much more.

Molly's House is a non-profit organization that keeps families together during a medical crisis.

Samaritan Center for Young Boys & Families

Samaritan Center for Young Boys & Families is a Christian, residential, early intervention program addressing behavioral and academic issues of boys making bad life choices. What sets us apart is our work with the families to address the root of the boys’ issues. Changing the dynamics of the family is the only way to ensure long term success... by keeping families together and boys out of the juvenile court system. Beyond those enrolled in our program, we provide counseling and parenting classes to families in the community as a preventive measure. Samaritan Center breaks the cycle of dysfunction. We are a small nonprofit organization accomplishing much on very little, including no government funding. Samaritan Center is in need of funding for its Scholarship Fund, volunteers, consults from plumbers, quick projects by electricians and other in-kind services, etc.

The Salvation Army of Martin County

The Salvation Army is located at 821 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in East Stuart and works throughout the year to provide food and financial assistance to those in distress. Other programs offered by The Salvation Army include emergency disaster assistance, emergency financial assistance, youth character building programs, a morning Breakfast Club (providing pastries, bread and coffee free of charge), Sunday worship services, bible studies and youth ministry. The Salvation Army of Martin County also operates Compassion House, which provides transitional housing to homeless women and women with children.

Treasure Coast Food Bank

Treasure Coast Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization and the only food bank in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties. We currently provide food for nearly 100,000 working families, children, seniors and veterans who don't know where their next meal is coming from.

United Way of Martin County

United Way provides leadership, resources, and focus to change lives in our community by creating sustainable improvements to end hunger; strengthen families; good health for all; solid education, create job opportunities and ensure safety.

Volunteers in Medicine Clinic

Since 1995, VIM Clinic has been providing free, comprehensive health care services to legal Martin County residents with household incomes under 200 percent of the poverty level and no other access to health care. We do this in partnership with many volunteer medical providers, including Martin Health Systems and private practitioners. Thanks to our volunteer base, VIM Clinic spends 98 percent of funding on patient services, and is able to turn every dollar into $13.40 worth of health care services.
