Who Are We?

Junior Achievement (JA) is seeking community volunteers to teach pre-planned lessons on entrepreneurship, life skills, and financial literacy to local students. TOTAL time commitment is just 30-45 minutes/week for 5 or 6 weeks. Easy lesson plans are provided. If you're looking for a fun and rewarding way to give back, this is the program for you! Opportunities to volunteer in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Aspen, New Castle, Rifle, Silt and Parachute.

Our Mission

Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their economic success. Our volunteer-based K-12 programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential. With the help of volunteers, JA students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21st-century global marketplace.

Volunteer opportunities in JANUARY:

1. Beth Wissing (Kindergarten teacher @ Sopris Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 9:30-10:00am any day of the week. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
2. Jennifer Liddington (1st grade teacher @ Aspen Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 10:30-11:00am or 12:45-1:15pm on Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
3. Amanda Peterson (1st grade teacher at Basalt Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:45-3:15pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
4. Katela Moran (1st grade teacher at Basalt Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:45-3:15pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
5. Jenna Dew (1st grade teacher at Basalt Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:45-3:15pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
6. Yoko Smith (1st grade teacher at Sopris Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 12:30-1:00pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
7. Jennifer Hamilton (1st grade teacher at Glenwood Springs Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:15-2:45pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
8. Chelsea Kueht (4th grade teacher at Cactus Valley Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 12:15-1:00pm on any day except Fridays. Total time commitment is one 45-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
9. Amanda Peterson (1st grade teacher at Basalt Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:45-3:15pm on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 30-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
10. Kristi Groves (6th grade teacher at Basalt Middle) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 8:15-9:00am on any day except Wednesdays. Total time commitment is one 45-min. lesson per week for six weeks.
11. Natalie Maher (5th grade teacher at Aspen Middle) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 8:15-9:00am on any day of the week. Total time commitment is one 45-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
12. Dana Hyatt (2nd grade teacher at Cactus Valley Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:00-2:40pm on any day except Fridays. Total time commitment is one 40-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
13. Jan Bevins (2nd grade teacher at Cactus Valley Elementary) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 3:00-3:40pm on any day except Fridays. Total time commitment is one 40-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
14. Heather Wilson (1st/2nd grade teacher at Carbondale Community School) needs a volunteer who can teach JA from 2:00-2:45pm on any day except Fridays. Total time commitment is one 40-min. lesson per week for five weeks.
