Friends of the Desert Mountains is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed in 1987 by a group of passionate, concerned citizens determined to help to protect the area's conservation land resources while at the same time be a partner in education, research and support for the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and surrounding areas. We work with local, state, and federal conservation partners, community members, landowners, and businesses to acquire and conserve land. Our volunteers assist us with everything from invasive species removal, trail maintenance, and citizen science projects to visitor services, interpretive hikes, and youth education. We appreciate everything our volunteers do for us, and always welcome more!
Our Mission
Our mission is to preserve land, to support education, conservation and research in the Coachella Valley, and to act as the support organization for the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.
