Coachella Valley Rescue Mission

A good way to start volunteering at Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is by serving a meal. We serve three meals a day, seven days a week. Schedule yourself as frequently or infrequently as you would like! Meal times are: Breakfast: 5:30am – 7:30a Lunch: 10:30am – 12:45pm Dinner: 4:30pm – 6:00pm Duties: Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to the clients and the homeless. Help with the preparation of some food items and light clean up. Qualifications: * Stand for at least one hour. * Lift 10 pounds. * Under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

To be a volunteer for one of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Program positions you must have the heart of a servant, have an inviting manner; and be an encourager. The CVRM Fellowship/Mentor is a one-on-one relationship building program. It is recommended that minimum of one-hour per week be set aside for interaction specific to the Fellowship/Mentor Application. Mentors develop a positive, God centered, relationship with a client who is participating in an intensive program of restorations. Mentors provide a strategic context for reminding individuals of God’s plan to restore their lives and for cheering progress towards their future. The Tutor/Instructor’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: •Conduct sessions one-on-one or in a classroom. •Provide clients with academic assistance on the subjects assigned. •Evaluate client’s progress. •Provide bi-weekly written comments and observations on the client assigned. •Coordinate with the tutorial or Instructor Program staff regarding student attendance. •Schedule meetings with program Supervisor regarding particular students as needed.

Wardrobe Consultants Desert Best Friend’s Closet’s (DBFC) Wardrobe Consultants work with clients one-on-one, helping them to select professional attire and accessories, assisting with fit, color choice and most importantly providing support and encouragement as they prepare for interviews. Wardrobe Consultants also provide direction to clients on hairstyles, piercings, tattoos and other items that can affect their professional image. DBFC Wardrobe Consultants ensure that DBFC clients look and feel empowered to attain employment success. All services are rendered with dignity and respect so that each client finds comfort and support during their “shopping” experience at DBFC. Major responsibilities: • Greet clients warmly and treat all with dignity and respect. • Assist clients in selecting clothing of appropriate size and fit. • Provide encouragement and advice on appropriate professional clothing. • Ensure that client intake and exit forms are completed accurately. • Sort incoming donation and keep client areas organized and neat. • Identify items inappropriate for clients that can be used in thrift boutique. • Create displays of professional outfits. Qualifications: • Excellent communication and customer service skills. • Great sense of color and style. • Team Player. • Sensitivity toward clients in transition coming from a variety of backgrounds. • Professional demeanor. • All volunteers must complete a DBFC Volunteer Application, interview and reference check

Mama's House Mentor: The purpose of a mentoring relationship is to show acceptance of her, love and pray for her. Woman Rooted and Journeying together toward Christ. Mama's House Advocate : Provide a strategic plan in partnership with the individual to obtain goals towards their future. ( Examples but not limited to : resume building for job search, GED or diploma, housing etc.) Our Mentor and Advocate is a one-on-one relationship building program. It is recommended a minimum of two-hour per week. We would love to meet with you to set up a interview and complete a application for these volunteer positions at Mama's House.
