Protecting those who protect us. This is a community funded program to assist Grand Prairie Police Department in providing Body Armor for our K9s. They body armor costs about $1000 per animal. Our goal is to provide 1 suit for each of the 2 animals and 1 extra in case of emergency. Both officers and K9s’ respond not only for Grand Prairie Police but to State and Federal Agencies as well. Both are dual purpose dogs meaning that they work drug sniffs as well as suspect apprehensions. Some of the calls are for tracking of violent suspects such as murders and crimes against persons. They are not limited to that and are automatically sent on pursuit calls as well as burglaries in progress.
