For the past 40 years, Foster Grandparent volunteers have been providing one-on-one tutoring and mentoring assistance to students who have been identified by teachers and other professionals as having special education needs. Each year over 1,200 students pre-K through 8th grade, show growth proficiency in reading which helps them keep up with their peers in reading. From pre-K to 3rd grade, children learn to read. From 4th grade and on, children need to be able to read to learn.
