ICAN: Positive Programs for Youth

We accept volunteer groups from 5- 15 people to assist with S.T.E.A.M (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm. Your group will be split into different classrooms with age groups K- 6th to assist with the different activities the youth are participating in. 04/14/2016 Middle School & High School Outreach Day volunteers needed
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world’s largest international pre-college science compe- tition. The Intel ISEF provides an annual forum for more than 1,700 students in grades 9-12 from nearly every state in the U.S. and more than 75 countries, regions and territories to showcase their talent on an international stage. On Thursday, May 12 approximately 3,000 middle & high school students from around the state will visit the fair. Volunteers are needed to assist in a lab environment while students learn about evasive water species. Training will be provided. There is a wide variety of duties/needs throughout the day. 04/14/2016 Interpreters needed for the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world’s largest international pre-college science compe- tition. The Intel ISEF provides an annual forum for more than 1,700 students in grades 9-12 from nearly every state in the U.S. and more than 75 countries, regions and territories to showcase their talent on an international stage. About 200 interpreters in over 25 languages are needed to work with students throughout the week in various ways. The greatest need for interpreters is on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 during judging (technical knowledge NOT re- quired). The day begins at 7:00 a.m. with a breakfast where interpreters and finalists meet to discuss their project and language needs for the day. Many of the students are fluent in English but would like interpreters just in case. There will be 4-hour shifts throughout the day until about 6:00 p.m. Register on the website: https://student.societyforscience.org/volunteers

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. The Intel ISEF provides an annual forum for more than 1,700 students in grades 9-12 from nearly every state in the U.S. and more than 75 countries, regions and territories to showcase their talent on an international stage. Approximately 1,000 judges are needed for 22 scientific disciplines. Judging will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center from the afternoon of Tuesday, May 10 through Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Judges must have a minimum of six years related professional experience beyond receiving a B.A., B.S., or Master’s degree OR a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent. We are accepting volunteers into our After-School Program which runs Monday-Friday from 2:30-6pm. Volunteers interact directly with youth, praise positive behaviors, help with activities, model respect and help with homework. Minimum age to volunteer is 15.
