Abstinence Between Strong Teens Intl, Inc.

Character is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as "attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual." Our goal at Abstinence Between Strong Teens International, Inc. (ABSTI) is to empower at-risk youth through our character development curriculum that teaches youth character defining attributes as it relates to relationships, marriage and sex. When we focus on relationships, we are not only referring to romantic relationships between two individuals but we specialize in teaching youth how to maintain and flourish in relationships with their peers, parents, siblings, teachers, employers and many others. When we focus on marriage, we strengthen youth with character skills that will lead to successful marriages. Lastly, when we focus on sex, we educate youth on how to live a life of self-control and we empower them with skills that will equip them to successfully practice abstinence until marriage.

Fellowship House

As a result of deinstitutionalization, Fellowship House was founded in 1973 through a Community Support Program grant awarded to the Mental Health Association of Dade County. Patterned after the clubhouse model, it soon became independently incorporated and was designated as a demonstration project for the State of Florida by the National Institute of Mental Health. In the more than 36 years since its inception, Fellowship House has expanded to include vocational, social, employment, case management, outpatient services and residential programs; serving approximately 1,039 members (recipients of service) annually. Fellowship House is widely recognized as a model for psychosocial rehabilitation. It has exceeded mandatory compliance and has been recognized for its strengths and exemplary conformance to standards by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). It is currently accredited in Behavioral Health for PsychoSocial Rehabilitation programs in the areas of Case Management, Community-Based Rehabilitation, Community Housing, Outpatient Treatment and Community Employment services and Community Integration. Our outpatient treatment and community integration programs are also accredited for integrated treatment for individuals with co-occuring mental health & substance abuse disorders.
