TITLE Bookkeeping Assistant REPORTS TO Senior Operating Officer TIMEFRAME Flexible workdays between 9 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. TERM OF OFFICE To be determined LOCATION rare's Administrative Office, Lamb's Inn, 1679 Blair Road, Cambridge TASKS 1.Assist in the creation of financial reports. 2.Perform bookkeeping tasks, including payables, receviables and banking functions. 3.File invoices and other accounting records. 4.Various administrative tasks. SKILLS NEEDED 1.Attention to detail. 2.Ability to work independently. 3.Computer literacy skills, including knowledge of Word and Excel. 4.Knowledge and experience with accounting software, Sage Simply Accounting. TRAINING 1.Orientation on the organization. 2.Training on charity-specific accounting procedures. This is a support role to aid staff in general administartive duties. This position will have the volunteer working from Lamb’s Inn, 1679 Blair Road, Cambridge. The ideal volunteer wil be able to commit to 3-5 days, either mornings, afternoons or full days; and should commit to at least 6 months. Tasks will include: 1. File, photocopy and fax as required by various departments 2. Assist in mailings: address envelopes, fold, stuff and stamp envelopes 3. Answer telephones in a professional, friendly manner. 4. Greet visitors and keep office area tidy. 5. Accept and process donations. 6. Issue or update Events Discount Cards. 7. Assist staff with administrative duties as needed. Skills needed: 1. Excellent English written and oral communication skills 2. Ability to work as a team as well as independently 3. Ability to multitask and work with continuous interruptions 4. Administrative background preferred, but not required. 5. Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook) Trainging: Orientation session and specific job training on the first day Benefits: 1.
