Habitat for Humanity of Highlands County is a nonprofit, faith-based organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing, homelessness and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. For Highlands County, our vision is that by the year 2025, there will be no substandard housing in our communities. We believe that every person in Highlands County should have the opportunity to live in a safe and healthy home. We continue to empower volunteers locally and from far away to build homes for our low-income families, while Habitat sells these homes at no interest or profit. Each family will invest hundreds of hours of labor in the building of their home and others.
