Northeast South Dakota Head Start Program prepares America's most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. To achieve this, Head Start delivers services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. Head Start preschool programs primarily serve 3- and 4-year-old children.

The mission of the Northeast South Dakota Head Start program is to provide assistance through education, training, awareness and support to enable Head Start children and families to identify and remove obstacles that keep them from attaining their fullest potential as self-assured, self-sufficient individuals and families.
