Aberdeen Area Arts Council

The Aberdeen Area Arts Council raises public awareness about the value of the arts for a healthy, vibrant community and strong schools. In addition to hosting national and international performances, we also work with the local and area schools providing opportunities for students to experience the arts. We also provide an opportunity for artists to sell their hand crafted items at Arts in the Park and Winterfest.

Aberdeen Area Community Foundation

Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, Inc. was chartered as Aberdeen Area Foundation, Inc. on April 23, 1984 to receive and administer a gift from a local businessman. The particulars of that first gift are lost to history, but true to its slogan, Looking Forward. Giving Back., AACF and its many contributors remain committed to the promotion and preservation of Aberdeen and the surrounding communities. AACF endows the gifts given to it and spends only a portion of the earnings from the endowment on worthy area projects. It is the perfect mechanism for individuals, organizations, companies and others to provide for their community future as their legacy. AACF is a stand-alone 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, but also enjoys a relationship with the South Dakota Community Foundation as a Community Savings Account

Aberdeen Community Theatre

For more than thirty years, the Aberdeen area has offered great support to ACT’s efforts. A community theater, like ours, isn’t possible without an endless supply of volunteers and patrons. We provide a host of opportunities for people to get involved – young or old – on stage, back stage or in the audience. Our Young People’s Theatre programming allows youth six to sixteen to build and enhance their theater skills. Our subsidiary, Capitol Cinema, bring quality film experiences to those interested. If you have any questions about getting involved with ACT or would like more information about our programming, please stop in at our office, 417 S. Main St. (look for the CAPITOL marquee in downtown Aberdeen) or call us at our office (605)225-2228.
