Who Are We?
The South Windsor Historical Society is a 501(c)3 organization that strives to provide insights to various periods of history of our town, state, and country through the use of monthly programs and special events such as our bi-annual Christmas Walk and yearly Heritage Day celebration. We are currently in the process of restoring the former Union District School to its original configuration as built in 1905.

Our Mission
The purpose of the Society shall be to create interest and activity in the History of South Windsor through the following: a) to seek, acquire, maintain, research and display objects pertaining to local history such as, but not limited to, artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, oral histories and genealogical data in order to preserve these for future generations and also utilize these for educational purposes. b) To provide information when possible for the preservation and marking of historic sites and buildings. c) To acquire by gift, purchase or otherwise, real and personal property: to use and/or manage such property in any legal manner as the Society deems appropriate. d) To provide educational programs or general historical interest to the public. e) To carry on all activities appropriate for a Historical Society.
