The Foundation was established by a dedicated group of prominent leaders in South Windsor who recognized a need for a locally controlled community foundation. The Foundation was started in November 2003 and became an official 501(c)3 in June 2004.
Purpose
The South Windsor Community Foundation, Inc. is operating exclusively for educational and charitable purposes and to make distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS regulations.
Sources of financial support are donations from individuals and the business community, endowments-estates, fund raisers conducted in the community, contributions from civic organizations, grants from corporations, grants from other foundations, and public funding/municipal grants.
The Foundations seeks to work with social services, education, arts recreation and other community organizations. We endeavor to serve the entire community and be a central vehicle for financial contributions to the local community here in South Windsor.
The Foundation has a number of funds. The South Windsor Public Education Fund provides funds to support projects and programs for the South Windsor Public Schools. The funding enhances the learning experience and encourages creativity and innovation both for students and teachers at all levels and grades. The Rays of Hope Fund provides grants to organizations and individuals who are doing projects or programs to benefit South Windsor residents. The Foundation also partners with organizations, providing fiduciary services to support their community project or program
